PLAYER OF THE MATCH
PLAYER OF THE SERIES
Asif Qayyum: Azhar averaged less than Amir, Hasan, Shadab & Sarfaraz. So much for the backbone of Pakistan's batting lineup.
Shyam: For me it's very difficult to choose the best pace attack from Australia, South Africa, India and England!
Adarsh: Pace attack: Vernon - uncanny accuracy and ability to nip the ball both ways, Olivier - bounces out the batsmen like Aussie bowlers, Ngidi - genuine fastie with nagging line and length, Steyn - We all know who he is, and Rabada - hybrid of Starc, Hazlewood and Cummins. That's some combo!!!!
jyoti: No doubt Olivier bowled beautifully in this series. But there is a long way to go before replacing Steyn or other experienced bowlers. He needs to be tested in different conditions.
Priyansh: I guess South Africa have got enough fast bowlers who have a good, long career ahead and will quite easily fill the boots of Dale Steyn once he retires, although I don't want him to retire in the upcoming 4-5 years
Sachin Bansal: "Even a big gun like Steyn might find it hard to keep his Test place when Ngidi will be back in the mix."
Gopalakrishna: "Can some one tell me that it is pre-scripted that Pakistan batting order will follow the cycle of hope and despair."
Anubhav: What a series this has been for Olivier, probably Ngidi might have to fight his way back... -- A headache South Africa will be happy to have.
Asif Qayyum: I'm guessing that this will be the easiest Man of the Series Award in ages. Duanne Olivier could have sat this Test out and still scooped it!
Ashraf: "This is probably the last chance for Azhar Ali to keep his place in the team."
Hassan Jogiat: "Umpiring has been extremely mediocre in this series."
Ashish Tiwari: 'Azhar almost does a Shaunn Marsh'. Oh Cricbuzz you beauty! ----- Vineet is the man responsible for it.
rookie: "@Ayan, you can never say Pakistan will be home, even if they require less than 50 with 5 or more wickets in hand."
Owais: "Much better batting display from Pakistan, positive approach. if they continue to play like this they can achieve this unimaginable task." ------ Long way to go, Owais, long way.
Thyagarajan: "I strongly believe that your best bowler of 1st innings should always open the bowling in second innings & SA have made a mistake by not making Olivier open the bowling."
Ayan: They have started off well. Another 70 runs stand between them, Pakistan will be home.
Anees zed: "This is getting ridiculously pathetic for Pakistan now."
Shivraj Nangare: "We saw South Africa almost chase down over 450 against India five years back at the same venue so there is still some hope for Pakistan."
Ashish: "The best Test WK is Jos Buttler and then Bairstow. BJ Walting is next in contention. But Buttler is best by a mile."
Manoj: @Ashish QDK is good. But I don't think he is currently the best Test WK. BJ Watling is as good as any. He has already won matches and series for NZ.
Abdul Azeem: @Hamza: If senior players doesn't support then Babar's position in the batting order won't matter."
Ashish: "How underrated is QDKs role in this team! He has the ability to guide the tail-enders as well as play aggressively when the team needs it. Surely the best Test WK batsman currently."
Hamza: "Pakistan are wasting Babar Azam lower down the order. If he bats at 3rd or 4th position it will benefit Pakistan more."
Owais: "Pakistan need some heroic innings to secure a win here. The target looks already out of reach."
Zahoor: "39 runs from the last five overs!"
Ashish: "The form of Hashim Amla is the most important thing for SA going forward to the WC. Even in presence of AB, Hash used to dominate at the top. He can break records in a whisker. He along with in-form QDK can carry SA to the semis if not more in WC. But there is a big if."
Abhishek: "I was about to type, 'A dream come true for Hamza to bat alongside his idol'. Oh dear!"
Saleem Malik: "Come on flies! You can help Pakistan" -- By carrying typhoid pathogens?
Hassan: Why do these flies always interrupt matches at the Wanderers? Remember that pink ODI versus Sri Lanka?""
Shaktii: "Flies memes on the way..."
Rahim naqvvii: "Pakistan need to get south Africa out within 200 runs on the board to create any chance for them"
Muhammad Hamza Latif: "Flies attack Amir and he gets wicket in his next over and same with Abbas... come on, keep attacking the Pakistani bowlers.."
Aamir Farooque: "One good partnership and then a collapse, that's Pakistan for you."
V Venkataraghavan: "One poor fielding effort and one dropped catch. South Africa seem to be playing for drinks now!"
Abhijit: "Look around the world, the best batsmen of a side usually comes at number 3 or 4, and here we have Pakistan wasting Babar Azam at number 5. Really, Really don't understand this strategy."
Hazik Anis: One of the main reasons why Pakistan suffers too much in batting is the rotation of strike. But in such case, Babar appears to be of the best. If you want to put pressure on the opposition you have to frustrate bowler by rotating the strike.
Zeeshan: "Thank God we crossed 49 at Wanderers"
AJ: "@Naeem, why do you need runs from him when he his negating the new ball very well for his team."
Ramiz: "SA cricket team will now understand Pakistan cricket team's pain of dropping important catches."
Naeem Qadri: "Muhammad Abbas has done his job last night. Now he needs to take on one of the bowlers to add as many runs as he can."
waqar: "Being a Pakistani fan, I am always looking at the wickets column. :p"
Zeeshan: "Hasan's bowling figure in this session: 5-3-3-2..."
Aman: "South Africa do a Pakistan. Also Pakistan do a Pakistan."
Kiran T: "I think Quinton has to change his position of batting, as he is hitter, he has to come earlier."
Saransh: "A lot of people are saying that the match has turned around, think twice, Pakistan also have to bat."
Aqib Nuhullah: "I am just imagining what Mickey Aurther could would have said in the dressing room which inspired all Pakistani bowlers to turn this game around in the matter of just 10 overs."
Ram: "Given that South Africa have scored at such a brisk pace, Pakistan will never be batted out of the game."
Habib: "Anything under 400 could be very competitive here for Pakistan. A long way to go for either side though to get there."
Dibyalochan Mishra: "With Hamza looking solid and Markram growing rapidly as a classy player, it suddenly seems rosy in the batting department for SA."
Prasad: Good positive intent from the debutant !!
KD: How is the 23-year old debutant faring in front of the fiery Pakistani pace and spin? -- He's just come out to bat.
ravi kishore: "Every time he bats this beautifully, he gifts it away in the same fashion."
Alia: "Just saw bowling figures of Hassan Ali, is it a one-dayer??"
Sunit: "Markram's knock proves why Virat Kohli rates him so high. Such a class player!"
Asif Qayyum: "Markram started his career at a time when bowlers and bowling pitches dominate and still averages 47. Big things to come from this lad."
Maisam: "This is more or less one dimensional pace attack. Pakistan definitely missing the pace plus bounce of Wahab Riaz."
PR: "Looks like a pretty good batting pitch. I think SA should have played Keshav as they are also gonna be bowling 2nd. But the real question is who could they have dropped? All their bowlers are performing so well and Philander adds to the batting prowess."
Nabi: "Bring on Shadab Khan, these two are playing well against the pacers"
Mayukh Mitra: "Outside subcontinent Pakistan should always play both Faheem and Shadab in the playing XI. Late decision but a good one."
Junaid Aziz: "It would be interesting to see how South Africa will counter the five bowlers strategy of Pakistan. Abbas has been stunning so far."
