PLAYER OF THE MATCH
Saurav: Rassie who got out against spinners in first six games, hasn't given his wicket to spinner today.
shiva Kalyan: Even if the Proteas pull off this game, they wouldn't be too happy with the way they approached this chase. Even chasing a par or below par score against top teams in knockouts will be a huge pressure on any team. They would hope to turn things around in semis to have a chance.
Soham K: What Afghanistan is lacking is raw pace, even just above 140 will work to close out games....
Arif Lar: No Jansen for South Africa today. One more wicket and Afghanistan can make a match out of it.GAME ON!
Suhail Lala: Afghanistan will be looking to end their WC campaign with a win today, which will be their 5th win and undoubtedly their best performance in any major tournament, especially any WC so far.
Emaad Wali: South Africa need to win this one in a dominant manner maybe in 40 overs. They haven't looked convincing at all while chasing. If they slip in the chase today, it will dent their confidence big time ahead of the all important semi final.
Naqeeb QadriI: I, for one, now think that #Afg must reconsider the idea of opening the bowling with #Mujib. We need genuine pacers. Perhaps grooming Azmat to support Fazal on the other end would be a better approach. Opening with a spinner just doesn't have the aesthetic "feel good" factor.
Sekar: What is the criteria for PAK to qualify for the semis over NZ? 'Margin of 287 runs if they bat first. You can read our match preview for the complete details'
Eeshu: If Bavuma does not attain full match fitness by the semi-final, Hendricks would replace him in the side. Which could not be such a bad thing because Hendricks has been brilliant in the limited number of opportunities that he got so far and his record against Australia in general is pretty decent.
Pushkar: So, AFG are ruled out of the semis race? 'Yes, they needed to win by a margin of 439 runs for their NRR to go ahead of New Zealand'
Pranav: If SA manage to chase this down, it could just be the confidence booster that they need. They look deadly batting first but this chase could send a message to Australia that they can chase too!
Sid: Afganistan is missing a trick but not bowling Azmatullah with the new bowl, he was good against Australia and early wickets will put RSA in a lot of pressure
Pk: Such poor batting from Mujeeb. When a batsman is there on the other hand and almost 15 balls left, he should have rotated strike rather than playing shots.
Gourav Sharma: Coetzee's typical fast bowler agression is a treat to the eyes.
Aditya: Afghanistan would've been in great position to qualify had Mujeeb taken that catch of Maxwell. Shows you the importance of fielding. One drop catch could cost you a semi-final spot.
Ravi: Another excellent spell from Maharaj! He's been brilliant in this tournament.
Emaad Wali: "This guy Azmatullah has a lot of potential. He has got a decent batting technique, he can hit them long but he has got the waiting game also. He can swing the ball and if he manages to hit the consistent lines frequently, he can be a revelation for Afghan cricket."
Juneth: "This has been a poor tournament for Mohammad Nabi the Batter."
Shivam Porwal: "Coetzee has made sure that we don't miss Nortje much."
DG: "Afg would've been such a story this WC. Incredible hard luck to not qualify for semi finals."
Emaad Wali: "Keshav Maharaj is definitely among the top 3 left arm spinners along with Santner and Jadeja. He is not often talked about but he really is a world class operator. Does not try too many things, keeps it simple and bowls with great control."
Salih: "@Cricbuzz, What should Afghan do to enter the Semi-Finals if they win today.?? I know the chance is like 0.01%, still wish to know in numbers." -- Afghanistan need to beat South Africa by 439 runs (if they score 500 batting first) to surpass New Zealand's NRR.
