Two more teams have played their respective first game. Rockets to be honest looked strong on paper but the Phoenix thanks to the batting prowess just managed to outbat the opposition. Both teams scored 200 plus for the first time in a single game in the Hundred! Lot of balls flew away, lot of sixes and lot of fun for the crowd. The fun continues. We will be back soon as well. Joe Clarke, Match Hero: Yeah, it looked that way for the first couple of balls (On the wicket seeming to be tough at the start) but yeah, we've got license up the top of the order with our strength and depth. Smeedy( Will Smeed) played unbelievably well as well. And we got the team off to a good start, and then the big hitters came in at the end and got us the momentum. I didn't want to get out being defensive, so I just thought, okay, I'll be ultra aggressive here and try and put them off their lengths. And yeah, luckily it came off okay. 216 is a lot of runs in a Hundred match. Yeah, of course, with the class that's in their lineup, the game's never done. So yeah, credit to our boys, we stayed calm. The boys executed well and we came out on top. Yeah, it's interesting. I spent the last two days just keeping to him ( Tariq) in the nets and trying to work out which ball was which. So yeah, it's going to be a hell of an experience. Yeah, I'm just trying to stay down as long as I can because they don't bounce too much. But yeah, he's (Tariq) been quality and a good 20 balls from him tonight. Magic start in front of the home fans. Really good crowd. Really important to get off to a flier in this competition. We have a couple of games away, so hopefully we can you know, get a few good results and come back here and be in a position at the end of the group stage where we can go get finals.
21:23 Local Time, 20:23 GMT, 01:53 IST: Some fine striking from the openers and Banton ensured the Rockets were in it. But they always knew they were chasing at least 20 too much. Once the daunting target was set, the bowlers despite going for a few runs were able to execute their plans. It was runs galore as more than 400 runs were scored. The pitch was as flat as a pancake and the batters feasted on it. Tariq and Currie were the men who delivered crucial blows and were detrimental in the chase for the batting side.
