Steve Smith: Yeah, it’s great to head off to San Francisco with a couple of wins under our belt here. We’ll see how the match goes tonight; we’ll obviously be watching with anticipation and see where we end up. I mean, we can't control what happens from here on out. But obviously, you’d love to be in the top two to give yourself a second bite of the cherry if you need it. So, yeah, fingers crossed results go our way tonight. No, it’s been really good. Everyone has stood up at different times throughout the tournament, and it's been great fun. It was good to see Gous out there spending some quality time in the middle today—I thought he played exceptionally well. Rilee as well did a lot of the heavy lifting and got us home. Hopefully, we can take this momentum with us right into San Francisco
Andrew Gous: Yeah, I feel the wicket got a little better in the second innings. Also, in the first half of the match, their bowlers got a few early wickets to bring it back to a 180-ish chase, which was fast paced. But we just said to ourselves, “Play with the same sort of intent. Bat out the next four or five overs.” The dew is always a factor later on, so we could recalculate and adjust our chase based on that. Yeah, it's huge. I've been hitting the ball well, I just haven't converted it into a big score recently. So it's really nice to get this one under the belt, and hopefully, I can continue that momentum.
Nicholas Pooran: Which factor would you weigh more heavily for the loss: the batting or the bowling on the face of it? Um, I think it comes down to the organization. I’m not going to blame either the batsmen or the bowlers. I would say they got a par score in the morning powerplay, and after that, we just needed to step up our execution, obviously with the bowling. And naturally, that was a bit tough. I think we didn’t have the right balance, to be honest. We tried to stretch the game and see it through our way for those last two overs. Regarding your personal form, how did you feel out there batting? Yeah, I’m feeling good. I’m happy, as always, to contribute to the team. It’s tough to lose the game, but we're going to play a great team next. We are heading back into that eliminator where we won last year. Do you have any early plans or thoughts? Um, no. We're just trying a few different things and looking forward to that opportunity when the time comes.
19:08 Local Time, 00:08 GMT, 05:38 IST: An excellent win in the end for the Washington Freedom after losing both openers cheaply. Rachin and Gous bailed them out with a 116-run stand. The duo found boundaries at regular intervals to keep the required run-rate under check. Gous cut loose towards the end and was in a hurry to finish the game, but got out on 96. Rachin was classy as usual and played some exquisite shots. The Freedom have already qualified and are currently second in the points table, but their NRR is a bit of a concern.
