Chasing a challenging target of 172, India never truly looked to be in the contest from the start of their innings, showing lack of intent apart from opener Shafali Verma, who injected brief momentum with a quick four and a six before falling early. England’s disciplined bowling attack choked the scoring rate and built immense pressure, Linsey Smith who set the tone early by picking up the crucial wicket of Smriti Mandhana and Tilly Corteen-Coleman took two vital scalps including Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur. Danielle Gibson carried her batting momentum into her bowling. Charlie Dean proved incredibly lethal by keeping things tight and picking up two massive wickets in a game changing 18th over. A spirited 33-run partnership off 19 balls between Richa and Radha Yadav briefly lifted India's spirits and although Radha perished soon after to break that promising stand, Richa took total control to turn the game into a thrilling final over thriller. With India needing 17 runs off the last six balls, Richa smashed a four and a six to bring the equation down to just 6 runs needed off 3 balls, but the fightback fell short as she was dismissed on the very next delivery, followed immediately by the final wicket on the next ball to seal a tense victory for England.
